Pride Week in Toronto generally draws an estimated 1 million people and $130 million dollars to the local economy, and WorldPride 2014 is expected to be five times larger. Going forward, WorldPride will be held every 5 years in a host city selected by InterPride. Toronto was chosen to host the first WorldPride to be held in North America. Back in 2009, Pride Toronto, in partnership with Tourism Toronto submitted a bid to host WorldPride 2014. The Pride Parade will take place on Sunday, June 29, with the Trans*Pride March occurring on Friday, June 27 and the Dyke March on Saturday, June 28.
